Dr.
Parent accomplished his undergraduate studies at Notre Dame.
While at Notre Dame he was a member of the Varsity Ice Hockey
Team for three years and won the University's Monogram recognition
for Varsity Athletics. Dr. Parent completed his medical training
at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. His orthopedic training was performed at the Medical
University of South Carolina where they were responsible yearly
for medical coverage at the Family Circle Tennis Tournament
in Hilton Head, South Carolina, the MCI Heritage Golf Classic,
and he also provided medical coverage for the 1991 Ryder Cup
in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Dr. Parent then completed
a hand, upper extremity, and microvascular fellowship at Loma
Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. He
is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
His practice interests include hand, elbow, and shoulder trauma,
arthroscopic surgery of the wrist, shoulder and knee, and general
orthopedic surgery. He is married and has three children.
Dr.
Parent completed his undergraduate study in Science at the University
of Notre Dame, in Notre Dame, Indiana.

His
Medical Degree was received from the University of Pittsburgh,
School of Medicine. During his final two years he worked for the
transplant team as a coordinator for organ procurement.
Dr.
Parent then completed his General Surgery Internship and his
Orthopedic Surgery residency at the Medical University of South
Carolina. He won the Resident’s research award during
his fourth year and also had research accepted for presentation
at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons in San Francisco, CA.
He assisted in Sports Medicine coverage of both the Family
Circle Tennis Tournament and the MCI Heritage PGA event at Hilton
Head, SC. He also helped
provide medical coverage for the 1991 Ryder Cup at Kiawah Island,
SC.
He
then finished advance fellowship training in Hand and Upper
Extremity surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center in
Loma Linda, CA.
Dr.
Parent has spent the last five years as a partner in the Wilmington
Orthopedic Group in Wilmington, NC.
His responsibilities included being the Team physician
for women’s athletics for the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington and Cape Fear Academy. He also provided monthly Orthopedic care for New Hanover County’s
Indigent Children clinic and United Cerebral Palsy of Wilmington. He was active in the community as a member
of the Board of Directors of the Wilmington
Family YMCA from 1999 to 2000.
Dr.
Parent is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic
Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
His
practice is focused towards but not limited to Arthroscopic
surgery, Hand and Shoulder reconstruction, Sports Medicine and
Joint Replacement.
